NetComm rated 'Choice' in New Zealand

Announcement posted by NetComm Wireless 12 Oct 2009

NetComm has been awarded the “Editors’ Choice” award in the October 2009 issue of New Zealand’s PC World magazine. In a review feature covering wireless networking, the award went to the NetComm NP802n wireless router, which offers high speed, Gigabit Ethernet LAN and WAN ports and exceptional antenna array.

The NP802n received high praise from the reviewers and stood out from a strong field, including Wireless N routers from Belkin, Netgear, Linksys and D-Link.

In the feature, NZ PC World’s reviewers said that the NP802n “impressed right from the outset, in appearance, quality, and performance”. According to the feature, the NetComm router performed exceptionally well in both data transfer and range tests.

“The router’s ability to provide such a reliable wi-fi connection surely has something to do with the three external antennas (2 transmit – 3 receive), a feature that no other router under review could match,” reported the magazine. “During our speed and broadcast range test, this router provided us with a network link that we never once doubted.”

Also included in the review feature was NetComm’s NP902n wireless USB adapter. This external antenna array enables Wireless N capability in older computers that only have internal Wireless G or B components. In fact, the NP802n was crucial to the review, since it was used to enable connectivity for all the other routers that were tested.

“We were impressed with the simplicity of the NP902n; it was easy to install and through all our tests…it never once lost a connection unless, as you’d expect, we took the laptop to the very edge of a particular router’s broadcast range,” the feature reported.

The NP802n and NP902n are part of NetComm’s range of 11n routers. They are renowned for being easy to set up and manage and work with all major operating systems.

The 800n Wireless N router family comprises the following models available in Australia and New Zealand:

  • NP800n (the entry level option with a 2T2R antenna configuration)
  • NP801n (a good mid-range solution with a 2T3R antenna configuration)
  • NP802n (perfect for high end gaming usage with a 2T3R antenna configuration, Gigabit WAN port and 4 Gigabit LAN ports)

All of these routers boast a range of features aimed at maximizing performance and user experience. This includes Wi-Fi Multimedia to prioritise audio, voice and video traffic, ensuring quality VOIP performance and smooth media streaming.

To accompany the routers NetComm has the 900n family of USB adapters.

  • NP900n (a basic 1T2R antenna configuration)
  • NP901n (the mid-range solution offering a 2T2R antenna configuration with a USB dock and cable to allow best positioning for desktop and laptop users.)
  • NP902n (an external 2T2R antenna array that is a more user friendly replacement for the old PCI
