NetComm Limited is set to supply FOXTEL subscribers with the latest in home networking powerline technology.

Announcement posted by NetComm Wireless 26 Oct 2010

October 26, 2010 , Sydney: NetComm Limited (ASX: NTC) and FOXTEL have signed a supply agreement to ensure that FOXTEL’s subscriber base will be among the first to benefit from the November release of NetComm’s 200Mbps Powerline Adapters with AC Pass-through (NP204).

The deal will give FOXTEL customers a cost effective method to connect their FOXTEL set-top-box to the Internet with no changes to their existing Internet network set up. By simply plugging NetComm’s 200Mbps Powerline Adapters into any power point, users will easily be able to connect their FOXTEL iQ box to the Internet with no setup or configuration required. The NetComm Powerline Adapters will be available from November 15 by calling FOXTEL.

To assist with the delivery of FOXTEL On Demand Internet TV service, this agreement will allow FOXTEL customers to take advantage of the service without having to install additional cabling in their homes.

This compact device is the size of an average power adapter and can be easily concealed behind an entertainment unit. The device connects directly into an existing powerline network and therefore guarantees a strong signal without the need for new cabling, power boards or double adapters.

Unlike traditional powerline adapters in the market that take up two power points, the NP204 features a built-in AC pass-through giving users back a power point to utilise for other products. Advanced filtering will ensure that the data signal will not be disrupted by electrical noise from these devices. Enhanced Quality of Service (QoS) also provides guaranteed bandwidth reservations for multimedia IP streams.

“With an upsurge of Internet devices being used in the home, it is important that Australians can experience the benefits of simple, fast and reliable online networking using their existing infrastructure,” said NetComm General Manager Danny Morrison.

“As a global leader in networking technology we released our first powerline product in December 2005 and have since created a more advanced range with data rates of up to 200Mbps. The very latest technology incorporates wireless N; and in our quest to remain at the forefront of technological innovation we continue to work on delivering even faster data transfer speeds,” said Mr Morrison.

The NetComm 200Mbps Powerline Adapter is available to FOXTEL subscribers for a one-off cost of $80 inc GST.
This offer is exclusive to FOXTEL subscribers only and they must call FOXTEL direct on 131 999 to order the device.
