Announcement posted by NRMA Motoring & Services 16 Aug 2011
NRMA Director Michael Tynan said the Electric Vehicle Roadshow would be a great opportunity to see some of the amazing transport alternatives to the traditional petrol-run motor car and test-drive the cars of the future.
"As the price of fuel continues to rise, car companies are increasing investing in electric technology in order to produce more economical and environmentally friendly vehicles," Mr Tynan said.
The NRMA Electric Vehicle Roadshow will include a wide range of hybrid and electric vehicles including a Toyota Prius, two Mitsubishi i-MiEVs, a hybrid Toyota Camry and electric pushbikes.
Mr Tynan said Australia needs to get serious about reducing dependency on foreign fuels.
"We can reduce this dependency by introducing alternative fuels; and investing in electric vehicle technology," Mr Tynan said.
"We encourage Members to come down to Kembla Grange next Monday at 10am to see and trial the electric and hybrid vehicles on display."
NRMA’s biodiesel-powered Mobile Member Centre will be supporting the Electric Vehicle Roadshows with plenty of giveaways. Guests to the Mobile Member Centre are welcome to access the latest ANCAP crash test videos and driver and road safety fact sheets.
"Kids can have a break with Wii game consoles onboard the Mobile Member Centre and with NRMA’s new Norma & Norman Roadbot activity books designed to educate young children about road safety," Mr Tynan said.
