Canon unveils next-generation PIXMA printers with new ‘Cloud’ and Creative options

Canon New Zealand today launched a new range of creative PIXMA printers featuring Internet and Wi-Fi-enabled models for complete print freedom anywhere in the home – or on the move.

“New ‘PIXMA Cloud Link’ and Wi-Fi access achieves complete print freedom for busy home office professionals and creative users, who move seamlessly between a range of devices and want their printer to fit in with their needs,” says Robert de Jeu, Brand Manager – Print Solutions, Canon New Zealand. “Now you can print wirelessly in the home or via the Internet from virtually anywhere in the world to a ‘PIXMA Cloud Link’ enabled printer. You can also eliminate the need for a PC at all, accessing online content such as photos and documents direct from the printer.”

‘PIXMA Cloud Link’ lets you print from virtually anywhere using any internet-enabled device such as iPad, iPhone, Android, PC or laptop by connecting with Google Cloud Print. ‘PIXMA Cloud Link’ also offers the ability to bypass devices altogether, by viewing and printing online content hosted in the ‘cloud’ direct from the printer such as calendars, personalised stationary, and photo albums at Picasa Web Albums.

In addition, creative possibilities available across the new PIXMA range have been expanded with innovative new features for printing scenes from Full HD movies captured on a Canon camera and five ‘Fun Filters’ for turning ordinary photos into inspiring images.

Parents and students will enjoy the print projects offered in CREATIVE PARK PREMIUM – an exclusive online resource offering free original content for 3D paper projects, scrapbooking, T-shirt transfers, greeting cards, photo frames and educational materials.

Seven models comprise the next generation of PIXMA, catering to a variety of needs at every price: the wireless multifunction PIXMA MG8250, MG6250, MG5350, MG4160 and MG3160; the compact MG2160 and the advanced single-function PIXMA iP4950.

Printing freedom with ‘PIXMA Cloud Link’ and Wi-Fi

‘PIXMA Cloud Link’ lets you print from anywhere using any internet-enabled device such as iPad, iPhone, Android or wireless laptop, by connecting with Google Cloud Print. PIXMA’s unique Cloud Link doesn’t require print drivers and there’s no need to download or send an email before printing. Also by using Google Docs, collaborating with people and printing from anywhere is easy.

The complete ‘PIXMA Cloud Link’ package offers two additional time-saving benefits which can be downloaded directly from the printer, PC-free: viewing and printing a huge array of exclusive templates such as personalised stationery, calendars and gift cards; and printing lab-quality photographs through Picasa Web Albums.

PIXMA MG8250 and MG6250 offer the full Cloud Link package which is Google Cloud Print enabled, while PIXMA MG5350 and MG4160offer the two creative options hosted in the ‘cloud’ and accessed directly through the printer. Note: Google Cloud Print will be activated on enabled printers from end of November 2011.

All wireless models in the range (PIXMA MG8250, MG6250, MG5350, MG4160 and MG3160) come with updated software for printing documents and snapshots including Adobe PDF and JPEG image files direct from iPad, iPhone or Android phones, as well as scanning documents straight to mobile devices.

For the first time on PIXMA, consumers can enjoy changing the ambience or angle of a photo by applying Fun Filter Effects including Fish Eye, Miniature, Toy camera, Soft Focus and Blur Background lens effects – creative features previously only available on Canon Digital SLR cameras. Built into all models in the new PIXMA range, the five Fun Filter Effects easy-to-use software lets you get even more creative with your photography.

Teachers, parents and students will enjoy creating impressive photo and print projects, with the new CREATIVE PARK PREMIUM. The exclusive online Canon resource offers free original content for 3D paper projects, scrapbooking, T-shirt transfers, greeting cards, photo frames and educational materials for taking creativity to the next level. There’s also exclusive content from world famous artists and photographers featuring iconic characters Paddington Bear, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and others.

Never miss a moment

Sometimes the action moves too fast to capture that perfect frame, such as when children are playing on the sporting field or blowing out their birthday candles. With PIXMA Full HD Movie Print software you can freeze frame your favourite HD video moments shot on a Canon camera, and print stunning quality photographs.

A new aspect of Full HD Movie Print is the ability to merge multiple images into one final single picture. In addition, a new layout feature allows printing of up to 72 individual images on one sheet of paper, ideal for indexing and proofing an album. Both creative software features are available on all printers in the new PIXMA range.
